About us 

# Tampa's training center, run by people who do this for real.

West Coast Florida CPR was founded by working clinicians and a Special Forces medic who were tired of checklist-style certification classes. We built the SIM lab, the curriculum, and the schedule we wished we had.

Our story 

## From bedside frustration to a Tampa institution.

We started in 2017 in a borrowed conference room with two manikins, an AED, and a list of nurses who'd asked us to teach a better ACLS class. Within a year we'd outgrown the room. Within three, we'd built a full ER simulation lab.

Today, West Coast Florida CPR certifies thousands of healthcare providers, EMS professionals, law enforcement officers, and service members every year. We're an AHA Authorized Training Site, a NAEMT Approved Training Center, and a DoD-Certified TCCC Training Team serving MacDill AFB and beyond.

The standard hasn't changed: train the way you'll perform.

CFO / Instructor

In EMS since 1975, instructing ACLS since 1984 and PALS since 2002. 22 years at Sunstar EMS training new EMTs and Paramedics, retiring as QA & Education Coordinator. Later 7 years at AMR/GMR Tampa as Clinical Education Manager. Believes learning works best when it's fun.

### Kevin L. Belanger

Chief Commercial Officer

Dynamic, results-oriented leader with 20+ years of healthcare experience across hospitals, clinics, wound-care centers, and surgical centers. Brings a consultative approach to problem-solving and is passionate about transforming healthcare through best-in-class life-saving training.

### James Roth

Operations Manager / Instructor

Goals-oriented leader with 30+ years of tactical and civilian emergency medicine experience. 22 years military, 15 with Special Operations Forces, and 7 combat deployments. Has been instructing tactical and emergency medicine to U.S. and foreign militaries since 1993.

### Colin Brooks

Clinical Education Director / Instructor

30+ years in EMS across hospital and foreign services, plus lead-instructor roles for high school, college, and professional students. AHA Affiliate Faculty and NAEMT Course Coordinator — committed to top-level instruction in every class he teaches.

### Charlene Cobb

Senior Instructor

In EMS since 1980, Paramedic since 2001, and 30+ years with Pinellas County EMS in roles from FTO to Education Coordinator and Community Outreach Coordinator. Former NAEMT Board Director, published in EMS journals, and contributor to NAEMT curriculum development.
